Two lines. A window where both bets win.
One sportsbook sets a lower line, another a higher one. Back the over below and the under above. Land between them and both bets win. Outside the window, one wins and the pair usually takes a small loss.
Basics
A middle, step by step
A line is the over/under boundary. One sportsbook offers 21.5 games, another 23.5. Back over 21.5 at the first sportsbook and under 23.5 at the second.
Every result wins at least one leg because the lower line is the over. If the match finishes with 22 albo 23 games, both bets win. This is the window.

When a middle makes sense
A middle has positive expected value only when its window hits more often than the break-even threshold. In this example, the threshold is 2,56%: the hit rate needed for inside wins to cover outside losses.
Three things affect the opportunity, all visible on the board:
- 01
Loss outside the window
A smaller outside loss lowers the threshold. Some middles cost only a fraction of a percent; those profitable outside the window are arbs too. - 02
Window width
All else equal, a wider window covers more results. Compare its width with the cost of missing it. - 03
Window position
A window near the most likely score is generally more useful than one at the extremes. Its position matters as much as its width.
Platform
Middles on the BLAKbets board
Middles have their own board. Each opportunity shows the outside-window result and the inside-window result together. Outside losses are grey, so the downside stays visible.
The window and both lines, together
See both lines, sportsbooks and stakes, balanced to give the same outside result whichever leg wins.
Set the minimum return filter to exclude pairs whose outside loss exceeds your limit.
The same freshness checks as arbitrage
Lines can move within seconds. Freshness indicators show whether the prices are current.
A locked opportunity can't be added to the tracker and doesn't display a current return.
Placement and settlement
DUAL opens both betslips. “+” adds the pair to your tracker.
The tracker settles both legs after the match, including double wins.
Questions
Middles questions, answered
How is a middle different from an arb?
An arb covers every outcome at a calculated profit. A middle usually loses a small amount outside its window but wins both bets inside it. It carries outcome risk.
Can a middle profit outside the window?
Sometimes. If the prices also form an arb, the outside-window return is positive. These opportunities are uncommon; a small outside loss is more usual.
Which sports offer middles?
Sports with many scoring increments, such as tennis games, basketball points and handicaps. Football windows are often narrower, such as exactly three goals.
