Formula
How stakes are calculated
Three steps explain the maths. The calculator handles them for you; here's where the numbers come from.
- 01
Convert odds to probability
Implied probability is 1 / odds. Odds of 2.22 imply about 45%; 2.07 imply about 48%. - 02
Check the total
Add the implied probabilities of both legs. Below 100% indicates an arb. At 100% or above, there is no positive arbitrage return. - 03
Split your bankroll
Stake per leg = bankroll × (1 / odds) / sum(1 / odds). Both legs then pay the same amount. Profit is that payout minus your bankroll.
Questions
Calculator questions
How do I calculate arbitrage stakes?
Leg stake = bankroll × (1 / odds) / sum(1 / odds for both legs). This balances the payouts across both outcomes.
How do I know if two prices form an arb?
Add the reciprocals of both prices. Below 1 (100%) means an arb. Exactly 1 breaks even; above 1 means a loss with balanced stakes.
Can I use American odds?
This calculator accepts decimal odds, such as 2.05 or 1.87. Use the odds converter for American odds. Decimal input accepts a comma or a dot.
